Kim Soo Hyun finally gets his first leading role in KBS’s upcoming drama ‘Dream High’ a joint venture project between Bae Yong Joon and pop producer Park Jin Young that had been delayed long enough in pre-production stage.
It’s a good chance for him to prove his acting skills in a solid character where he is not acting like somebody’s childhood memory. He is such a talented rising young actor who is considerably on my radar since he made quite an impression playing the young Go Soo role in the SBS melodrama ‘Will it Snow for Christmas?’
He actually played the teen Park Sang Min role in SBS’s ‘Giant’, but I haven’t watched it because I plan to watch it after the drama wraps. He also drew more praise for his role in short drama ‘Father’s House’ and special teen drama ‘Jungle Fish’. Honestly, I extremely want to watch them, but I couldn’t find its softsubs. (Anyone can help me??)
Alright! Let’s back to the drama itself. ‘Dream High’ centers around young people’s livees and dreams and is set in an arts high school. Kim’s character named Song Sam Dong whose childhood dream was to own his own farm. However, he suddenly leaves his dream due to a woman his love. He follows her to the arts high school, where he finally discovers his own hidden talent for music and begins his path to becoming a star.
Due to the drama’s theme, it’s expected there will be the idol stars who are sure to be cast, especially with the kpop connection. Originally, 2PM’s Taecyeon (Cinderella’s Sister) and T-ara’s Eun Jung (Coffee House) were rumored to have been cast. But, the producers directly have refused those issues. The casting is still ongoing and the filming will start soon once the casting has been finalized.
‘Dream High’ is scheduled to release on January 3.
